The members of the Kinsey Sicks describe themselves as America’s only self-supported, multi-person, out, queer, drag-a-pella, political comedy revue. The idea was born in 1993, while dressing in drag for a Bette Midler concert.
In this high spirited, entertaining documentary, we get a thorough look at this a cappella singing, drag performance troupe. Through interviews and tracking, we get to see their history, and journey, along with each of their lives as they prepare to make it to an open-ended run in infamous Las Vegas and then beyond (and when these drag queens hit Vegas, you know there’s going to be drama!).
It’s a grand drag spectacle and an
intimate look at an act struggling to preserve its substance in the face of forces that are working to reduce them to nothing more than camp. —David Zaintz
